Ask for an "Amp Bypass Cable" at the local audio shop. Should be under $20. You remove the cables from the amp and plug them into each end of the harness.

If you are not using the factory radio you want to bypass the amp anyway. The after market radio will put out way to much power for the amp.

If the amp bypass does not improve the situation you may well have a dead radio.

If the amp bypass makes a difference and you are using the factory radio you will need to either replace the amp, or the better option, replace the radio. The factory radio is supposed to be mated to an amp and does not put out enough juice on it's own.

Don't worry about losing the factory amp, it is weaker then most radios sold today. My $120 Sony AM/FM/CD/MP3 unit with no amp was much louder than my factory radio and amp.
