I would like to hear from those who have removed there original radio and CD player and replaced them with a single unit that does it all. What radio unit did you buy? Were the existing speakers and/or amp replaced or used? Who has the cable conversions kits and such not to destroy the existng wriring.
I have a 95 MTX SHO

My stereo has gone through several incarnations since removing the original unit(s). I used a Clarion ARX 7370 and Clarion 12 disk changer. I purchased the Clarion/Ford harness through a local radio shop. I "appropriated" a tray for the old CD player spot from a 91 Celica GTx (wife's car). You can also use a single DIN cover for the old CD spot as well. Now I use a Clarion DZX 955MC and just swapped units (harness still worked well), but I've since changed out the speakers and amps as they sounded anemic after about 7 years.

Conversion kits can still be purchased just about anywhere, I've even seen them at Wal Mart, but it's just a Ford harness connector with labled wires.
