Okay, this is too funny. Get this...I found out a lot of good info through this little venture, which I will convey to others here at the forum that will greatly help radio troubleshooting.

I found out that Ford Dealers have no one Ford Authorized to work on ANY of their stereo systems. Apperantly they have someone from Autocraft that comes INTO the dealer and works on the stereos. Or, they send it to Autocraft. So, I called Autocraft. I spoke with a guy in the Ford department and he said that normally it's $35 to just hook up the radio and see if it works. But he told me if I'd bring it in he'd do it for free. I give him the radio, he hooks it up. It works. He asks me if I have my amp, I said yeah, I'll pull it out of the car. I give it to him, Amp is bad, which is what we'd thought. So he says that my amp is ancient and no one uses those anymore, so he grabs on out of the bad...the last one. He plugs it in and says it works fine now! Then he says, "I'll make you a deal...you give me your dead amp, I'll give you this new one, and we'll call it even!" I said, "**** YEAH!" LOL It was the coolest experience I've had in a while. that was just like one in a million that that would happen! LOL He said that apperantly that amp had been in the back for 2 years, untouched. He said they would've NEVER gotten rid of it, so he decided he'd give it to me. It was a brand new stock replacement for my car. LOL Is that not the coolest thing??

Now for the technical information I found out. If you do not have a CD Player, you have a plug called a Short-Plug in the back at the top left of the radio. This is where the CD Player NORMALLY plugs in. If this Short-Plug is not in, the radio will produce NO sound. Put it in, it works fine. Well, on top of that, if you have a CD Player and it doesn't work...same effect, NO sound! SO, at that point you have to get a short plug, or make one, or replace your CD Player. My CD player is no good...I gotta' get a new one. SOOOOO...these are all great things to know if you ever need to troubleshoot your system for a similar problem with no sound. Good luck and hope this helps! Later guys!

I also found this out through a Ford Audio rep. This guy was also cool and gave me dealer cost for the two different cables needed to add on the Factory CD Player and offered to fix my newly purchased used CD player if it failed for close to nothing since I bought $85 worth of cables from him.

If you need these cables he had them. Accessories Unlimited 505-888-5811, ask for John in Ford Audio Repair.

Thanks, but I've already got a CD player and the hook-ups in my car, just a bad CD player, that's all. Thanks though!
