Just ordered up a bottle of this, and plan to do a 1500 , then 3000 mile oil change with this stuff (after all the great reviews i've read).

My question is, my car has only had Mobil 1 Synthetic its entire life. I plan on using a dino oil for this cleansing. Will this be ok after the car having synthetic run through it for 14 years? Should i go with 5w or 10w-30 dino?

Thanks for any help!

I've heard of bad things happening (well, mildly bad) when switching from oil to synthetic (smaller molecules getting past seals that dino couldn't, etc), but I've never heard of any major problems going the other way.

I would run the same thickness that you normally use... I don't think either 5 or 10 will hurt the engine any. Whatever you feel comfortable with...

After 130k miles if my SHO having dino oil I switched to mobil1. 13k later there are no oil leaks.

Run dino oil. I used Castrol GTX 5w30.

2500 miles with castrol + Auto RX. Change filter, but not oil, and go 500 more miles. Change filter, drain crankcase and refill with dino. Go 3000 miles. Switch back to M1. Enjoy. :)

I tried Auto Rx, it did absolutely nothing but lighten my bank account.
Did you use it right?

I used it, and it cleaned a significant amount of varnish from my upper heads for starters. I haven't dug into the lower and inside the oil pan, but I have a feeling that things are significantly cleaner down there too.

The reduction in blow by consumption was a nice bonus, too.

save some coin and just run a 1 1/2 qt of ATF type F in with your oil for about 1K miles.
this will clean your engines insides nicely.

you can also run 2-3oz of ATF per gallon of gas through your next fill up,its a **** of a injector/carbon build up cleaner!

That's a new one . . . .

What's the rationale behind this ?

I believe what he's trying to say is that there is not as big a difference between dino and synthetic oil (as far as your engine is concerned) as there is with different weight oils.

Run the ARX for 3k not 1500. Then use dino for the rinse cycle too.

What are you trying to accomplish? With M1 being the oil used I doubt if there is much carbon build up.

SHOJOE, I added a step to clarify how I did my cleaning and rinse cycle. Please recheck my original post to make sure that you didn't take my advice the wrong way and skip the drain step. Thanks.
