Mods: I've read the stickied post above but it did not answer my question.

I'm looking at buying a set of 17x7.5" wheels with a 35mm offest. I run Bondurant struts and Intrax springs...will these fit without clearance problems?

Is offest the distance from the center of the wheel to where the hub meets the wheel?

Thanks, Mike

Mike: +35mm offset is on the small side, which means it's going to stick OUT farther. You'll have more of an issue with fender rubbing than strut rubbing.

Very few people have done anything with "Bondurant" struts (Monroe's, IIRC??), so you're probably on your own asking this kind of question. Unless they're a larger diameter, the Intrax is going to be a non-issue as well.

I mentioned read the sticky, because every case is going to be a "try it and see" bottom line when working with combinations. Everybody will then ask "will Brand X wheel with "Y" offset and "Z" suspension work for me?", and you're very likely never going to get that exact combo answered.

I will tell you I had 17"x7.5" wheels, 235/45-17 BFG KDW & Pirelli P7000SS Tires, with Tokicos & Eibachs on a +37mm offset, with no rubbing inside or out on my 95 MTX. The same wheels were close to rubbing the strut on a Gen 1, with +45mm offset; this is why the +37 to +45mm offset on a 7" to 7.5" wheel width is the suggested "pretty-much-gonna-fit" range.

I have 17x8 wheels with 245/45-17 tires that rub the fender skirts on the Gen 2 as well over serious bumps or with a full trunk, but I forget what offset those are (they're OZ F1 Racing wheels). IIRC, Josh T told me +38mm for a 17x8 wheel would be as close to ideal as we'd get.

There have been sketches & links posted on the Forum on the terminology of the wheel measurements. I know Baer & Fikse have templates on their websites as well.

Best of luck.

I've been doing a lot of reading and understand things much better. My thoughts are to get the wheels (they're used with tires for a good price) and if it comes down to it throuw the wheels onto a mill and shave off a few mm to avoid rubbing. Anyone ever done this? It sounds logical to me if it's only a few mm...

Mike, if they rub the struts, you need spacers to push the wheel outward. If they rub the fender lip, you can trim or roll the lip before machining wheels.

Machining wheels would be my LAST choice - I'd rather sell them & buy the correct offset.

TIRE size is also going to be critical - both the width, the curvature of the tread area across (rounded or more squared off) and the overall diameter of the tire as well.

You should have no problems in the front. You may have to massage the rear fenderwells a little to get them to clear without problems.

I'd probably run a 235/45/17 on those rims.

Yeah, ideally I'd want wider but there are 225/50's already mounted and balanced with lots of tread left.
