Hey there. Thank you everyone who assisted me with my previous problem. Just need a bit more info if possible as I try to catch up on this car's maintenance schedule. I have an 89 MTX 3.2 conversion that has a Quaife installed. I am going to drain and re-fill the transmission with fresh oil. My question is which is the best kind of oil to use. I see some people talking about this Royal Purple stuff etc. I have no clue what to use or what grade. Any help would be very much appreciated!!!!!!!!!!:omgsho:

you use atf.

you will get 10 different opinions from 10 different people on what is best.

I have Mobil 1 atf in my 92 and its much better than whatever was in there before.

Use a synthetic ATF as the quafie will make lots of heat when your pushing it hard. And what ever works best for you will be the one you want to use.

I second Mobil 1 atf with the quaife. Went to this from Redline, much smoother.

I have used Redline D3 for 75K miles. I also installed a drain plug for the MTX.

While one fluid will work great for some MTX tranny's, the same does not for another tranny. Go figure. I had the OEM fluid in there for over 100k and never a problem, Tried Rediline D3 and it was very notchy; Valvoline synthetic works much better on mine.

the website for Tractech/Truetrac, geared LSDs for light trucks 'n Jeeps and muscle cars, does not recommend synthetic lubricants. a geared LSD needs some friction to bias the torque as the worm gears are forced sideways into the housing. apparently the good stuff is too slippery. maybe check the website for Quaife. as usual, the disclamer YMMV applies.

I use the cheap crap in my Quaife equipped MTX.
I change it quite often.
