I have to replace my motor mounts. 89 SHO w/ 5-spd. I have been looking online and at www.adavanceautoparts.com it lists 1 motor mount for 96 bucks, but Napaonline.com lists 2 one for 41 and one for 26. NAPA calls for 2 mounts, Advance calls for 1. Which one is it?

You have 2 motor mounts...and IIRC, those mounts will not fit your car. They may list them under "SHO", but they are for the regular taurus.

You have a total of 3 mounts, a front engine, a rear engine, and a tranny mount. :thumb:

Go for reinforced mounts from shonut if you can afford them. Last time you'll ever have to replace mounts.

Depends on which way you are looking at it.

If looking from the front bumper into the engine bay, on your left is the "front" of the engine. There are 2 engine mounts on the left. The one closest to the front bumper is the front mount, and the one closest to the firewall is the rear mount.

The engine is in sideways for front wheel drive.

Dont know if that helps or not.

Right side? How do you mean? The engine sits transversely, so BOTH motor mounts are on the passenger side of the car. There is one towards the front, and one towards the rear. If one is bad, the other is probably not in great shape either. I have both (and a trans mount) in a reinforced version. PM for prices.

less than 100 bucks from NAPA plus I don't have to deal with shipping, thanks though.

I thought the MM's from the local stores did not fit the SHO even though they call out that they will.

Less than $100 for both mounts, and from Napa no less, seems too good to be true. If you find that to be the case, I will still have these mounts (and you will not have to replace these again like the Napa mounts).

Napa is probably quoting you the price for the 3.0 mounts, not the 3.0 DOHC (SHO) mounts. SO be sure before you order.

AFAIK, the SHO motor mounts are a Ford only item. i searched thru several motor mount catalogs for countless hours hoping to find the correct SHO mounts, but came up empty handed. the standard Taurus rear mount is nearly identical but different just enough to not be applicable to the SHO.

he was referring to location from the driver seat, while others are referring by standing in front of the car, look at the engine compartment. :)

From personal experience - go reinfored the first time. So they cost about $120 each - you NEVER have to replace them again. Think about it in THAT perspective, and you see it pays to do it right the first time.

I've had to do mine twice. I used OEM's the first time, and had to replace them later on in the car's life. If I'd only spent the extra $40.00 or so (total difference) the first time, I wouldn't have had to replace them a second time.

Decided to revive this thread. I need a new rear motor mount and I am very very very tight on cash but with the subframe down I have to do this. On superhighoutput.com they list a part number for a pioneer motor mount. I took this part number and Did a search on Napa and found a balkamp rear motor mount for $70. I dont see how this could be the wrong part. Lemme know what you think. Since I want to look at all avenues do you still have those reinforced mounts toolman? I'll drop you a PM.

Since no one here has ever actually found a true aftermarket SHO motor mount I would be sure that you can return it if it's not the correct one.

motor mounts

Ok, since we're talkin' motor mounts again, I have question....

In some photos of SHO engines I notice what looks like a mount on the pass. side strut tower going to the engine. Is that right or what is it? I have a 95 atx and there isn't one on mine, what ever it is.. Lemme know..

EDIT: OK so they're torque limiters, are they suppose to be on the 95 atx like mine?
