I dont own a sho, but I figured since some of you have had to remove your engines, you could provide some insight for me. My 96 lx (24v duratec) is at the dealer having a rebuilt engine put in. The engine drank about a quart of oil per 850ish miles and ford esp agreed to replace it.

The service advisor called me today suggesting that all my hoses be replaced while the engine is out. He said it's a usual $800 job with $200 parts and 8 hours labor. He said that since my engine is out, he can do 3 hours of labor and I talked to the tech and he said he'll try to do it for 2 hours. He's swapping the hoses anyways to the new engine because esp just gave him a rebuilt block with heads - nothing else. :(

My car turned 7 years old and has about 60500 miles on it. For those of you who have removed your engines, etc has it been proven worth while to replace the hoses? - especially since my engine is sitting outside the car right now as we type.

Any tips, comments, or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance thumbs_u

with 60k. I'd definitely spring for replacing all the hoses, although you should refuse to pay any labor. If the guy has to transfer hoses anyways, you should not pay labor on it if you buy new hoses, it actually saves labor if you buy new, since he doesn't have to take the old hoses off the old motor.

Oh yeah, I just realized that he doesn't have to remove the old ones then. He did point out some hose assemblies which would have to be dissassembled if I were to have new hoses, but that should balance out the hoses which dont need to be removed. Cool, thanks for the tip thumbs_u

Thanks for the suggestion. I ended up having to pass up the offer because after I "ok'ed" them to do it for $340, (parts and 2 hours labor), he calls back and tells me parts are actually $70 more squint , I said forget it.

Got the car back yesterday and it still feels the same, but is quieter (I can actually hear the injectors now) and hopefully will not drink oil.
