Purge valve solenoid Location (PO420/PO430) now

Ok, getting the Fuel filler cap warning. So far all I found on the forum was it could be faulty solenoid. Anyone want to tell me where it's actually located? And how to check to make sure that's the culprit. Thanks

Along the back of the intake manifold. The lower end connection connects to throttle body. The upper end connection connects near the firewall. To check the purge valve disconnect the end near the firewall and the electrical connector, start the engine and see if there is vacuum present. There should not be any vacuum. Did you check for codes?

So after I did the removal and tested for vacuum, none present, it has a permanent evap code.
I'm guessing I need to swap it out with new now.
It's not giving me the idiot light for fuel filler door now either

It probably set the code because you disconnected the purge valve. Clear whatever codes you can and drive it. As soon as it passes the evap test the permanent code will go away. It could take a week or more before the conditions are right to run the test. Keep the gas tank between 1/4 and 3/4. The test won't run if the gas level is too high or low. If the check engine light is off, don't worry about anything.

I assume you have the capless fuel filler. Did you clean it? Google it for the different approaches.

So now I have the P0420 code popping up. I changed out the front 02 sensors in 2020. So now I'm thinking it's the purge valve sticking open since I had the code earlier, but it's not there now. Hate to throw parts at it, but probably will replace it and get the sensors as well.

Thoughts and recommendations?

P0420 is likely unrelated to the purge valve. The rear O2 sensor triggers the P0420 code. P0420 refers to the firewall side cat.

That's what I figured too. Ordered the sensors. Won't be in till tomorrow. They couldn't get the OEM parts, had to go after market.

Replaced both 02 sensors, rear. That one by the firewall is a giant pain in the ass. Only scraped my skin off in 2 places lol. Cleared the codes. Now I have to drive her and wait for the permanent code to clear. Hope that does it.

So, the car is running fine. Fires right up, no egg smell, not hesitating on acceleration. Code was gone for the last 2 weeks. But now I have PO420 and PO430 popped up. Anyone want to chime in? I cleaned all the MAF's last time. I may just check and change the plugs, they're the same ones for the last 3 years (only 50K on them I think). Cleaned the Air filter housing and filter (K&N).

No changes in how the car runs. Codes still popping up a few days after clearing and driving. So, I'm guessing the cats are bad. Cat temps are fluctuating around 750 according to the scan tool. No other symptoms present. Any other ideas?

Cats are expensive to say the least. Thinking about just ordering the PPE catted down pipes and go from there.
