Started pulling the engine in my "94 mtx this afternoon. Pulled coolant hoses coming off the top and bottom of the radiator. Also the two going through the fire wall. Drained trans fluid and popped out the axles. Took off MM bolts. Removed hood and intake (just to make it easier to get at stuff). Removed shifter from trans. Removed y-pipe. Will be detaching fuel lines at the rails. My question is about the electrical. I know there are some to detach on the trans from when I replaced my clutch. Besides that, what am I looking at? Are there just a few to unplug, or a bunch? Located in a specific area?
Also, do I have to do anything with the power steering pump/resiviore ect?

This is the first engine I have pulled and I want to make sure I'm getting everything. Anything that I missed? Thanks

I think its just that speed sensor there, which you gotta get that speedo cable loose as well.. .dont forget the clutch cable too, and the shifter linkages obviously... sounds like you got it all tho..

Just watch it move when you drop the jack or hoist or whatever... it seems like there is always something getting snagged or something when doing jobs like this... just drop it a few inches at a time and make sure nothing is weird... sounds like you're good tho.

Yeah, I think I got all the trans stuff. Mount ect. Do I need to do anything with the power steering stuff, or will the engine come out separate? As far as electrical....how much is there to disconnect? I was planning on just tracking the stuff coming through the fire wall.

I just did an engine swap. If you keep the PS pump on the engine you need to remove the high pressure hose and the big hose coming off the PS reservoir. Electrical is pretty simple, Some connectors around the tranny and some near the valve cover nearest the firewall. Other than that watch for anything you miss while removing the engine.

Thanks. So basically for the power steering I can either take the pump off the engine and leave all the hoses connected or remove the hoses and leave the pump on the engine? Makes since. Which would be recommended? Im thinking pulling the hoses since the pump is way back there.

I've always pulled the hoses off and left the pump with the engine. its a royal pita to get the pump off/on with the engine in the car.

I've done it both ways, leaving the PS pump in the car makes less of a mess, but taking the hoses off is much easier. I'd rather do it the easier way now, all you need is some brake clean to get rid of the mess :)

Don't forget the reverse lamp sensor on the far left top of the trans, and I think you have to disconnect the alternator cable and connector as well.

Unbolt the compressor from the motor and leave it with the car (to avoid A/C recharge) and buy new hoses for the heater core and just cut through your old hoses (to avoid any heater core problems).
Removing the intake was a good idea, and all your mystery connectors and such are now easy to see.

at the fire wall on the passenger side follow the wiring harness which runs along the fire wall on the rear bank to where it connects to the computer on the inside of the fire wall. It's a big Pig tale connection with a 8 mm bolt holding it in. Simple disconnect from that point, I didn't see you mention that.

So I can unplug it there to pull the engine and then swap it over to the 3.2 while it is out of the car? Sounds pretty easy that way. Oh, and your location says Bend...is that South Bend? I go there for autox and tires from time to time.

Ill check on new hoses. Also, no AC. All I have is a gutted compressor housing. One of the positives of living farther north is that AC isnt really a necessity.

I got a spare compressor if you need one.... and you can find the lines on fleabay.... even the older ones.... "Four seasons" makes all the hoses... you just gotta look for condensor, and evaporator.... and you'll find those lines...
