So I decided to pull my codes... Holy CRAP. Where do I start?

KOEO:

121, 172, 176, 215, 519

KOER:

121,136,172,412,332,521,536,538,632...

I was like.... really... where the **** do I start?

Thanks guys..

121 - tps out of self test range - bad tps
136 - lean left bank - usually 02 sensor
172 - lean right bank - usually 02 sensor
412 - unable to control rpm during high speed part of self test - usually iac issue
215 - bad coil 1
332 - egr opening not detected - usually dirty sensor tubes
519 - psps circuit open - ???
521 - psps did not change states - ???
536 - boo circuit failure - brake on/off switch is bad or not connected
538 - operator error during koer test
632 - is a trans code but I don't have that one in front of me now.

most of this is normal maintenance stuff. If you have already replaced some of that stuff, reset the codes and drive it a couple weeks, then pull codes again to see if they have returned - some of them may be old.

Start with the very first code and address it. Once it is resolved, reset and retest.

Rinse and repeat until all are resolved.

It's important to do them in the order that the computer issues them (priority) as some later failures may be due some other issued pointed to by it's specific code.

Do look at your timing of the operator inputs during the self-tests. It looks like you missed several.

Do you mean when I run the KOER test? Also Ill start with a fresh TPS and 02 Sensors. But I think having a bad coil is pretty bad too isnt it.... I can only imagine... anyway, how to you clear the codes?

I would start with replacing the TPS before you even do the o2 sensors.

It giving the wrong voltage to the computer could cause the lean condition.

As someone else said. Change the TPS, (id personally clean the MAF), and reset the computer. Then retest.

Okay, I said "DO ONE THING AT A TIME AND RETEST". I didn't say "throw a whole bunch of stuff at it at once and hope to get lucky".

Yes, of course "retest" means running the KOEO and KOER tests.

Codes can be erased by pulling the jumper from the STI pin while the codes are being flashed. You can also disconnect the battery negative cable for 10-15 minutes and it will do the same thing (and more).

seriously guys, you don't need to make this take 2 months for the guy to get rid of the codes by doing them one at a time. do you really think that when you take it to the mechanic they will do one thing at a time and have you bring it back 16 times?

if you reset the codes and drive it a few days, you will have the current codes showing. then, you can address the things that are shown. if it shows a bad coil code, you don't need to wait until you have changed the tps to change the coil because there is zero interrelation between a tps code and a coil code.

Thanks Ruby. I appreciate your response.

And Project, there's no reason to get all upset. I'm asking questions. If you dont want to answer fine, but I would appreciate some respect.

No one said to take two months. It only takes 5-10 minutes to run the Quick Tests.

Fine. You want to waste your time and money ignoring my advice, go ahead. I've been working on these systems for about twenty years and I've learned a thing or two along the way.

Since when is a TPS and 02 Sensors a whole bunch of stuff? So Ill start with the TPS, redo the codes and if it solves that one problem, I was going to go with the 02 sensors. I wasn't ignoring your advise. Its just interesting how you automatically get all ****** off and post negative comments. Usually people on a forum are helpful. At least we all are on my other forum. You're just as bad as the guys on SVTP. Too bad you don't have moderators who care about new members on here, but at least you have you have your little buddy Shadetree.

Excuse me? Attempting to assist you with an issue and potentially SAVE YOU MONEY in the long run(iirc o2 sensors will run you about 100 bucks for a set). And you wanna act like that?

Good luck on your own.

Moonflair, these guys know more than you and I will ever know. They just like to keep the posts on track and less cluttered, nothing wrong with that. It's Monday, a new week, lets see if we all can get back on track.....

It's not the fact that you are "Trying to save me money". It's your attitude. I would rather have someone simply explain me to how to do something rather than web yell at me that I didn't read their posts. I understand what you guys are saying, but jumping to conclusions on how I was going to run the procedures and then almost mocking me for it is uncalled for. I don't care if you are a Veteran on a site or a newbie. That does not promote for people wanting to ask questions or become a part of the community. Maybe you don't care, but I would like to think Moderators or people in charge of this site would.
