So my check engine light came on and then went of breifly a couple of times after a spirited pull, so I decided to pull codes. This is what I got.
KOEO
111 all okay
214 CID circuit failure (I think this is from when I stalled it on tke of once)
KOER
412 Cannot control RPM during engine self-test high rpm check. Could this caused by a rough idle due to camms?
159 MAF out of self test range. Would this mean a bad MAF? It is a stock MAF with no LPM.
225 Knock sensor not sensed. This just means its not knocking, correct?

Should I be worried about any of these? I had been running a Mark VIII MAF with an LPM, but was having tuning issues. I said forget it and switched back to the stock one. And yes, I reset the computer when I did the switch.;) Going to invest in a tweecer and start learning to tune it myself.

I am going to clear all the codes and check it agian after a week or so to see what comes up.

when you do the koer test, it advances timing to the point where it expects to hear knock, to check that sensor. it may be that the sensor is bad, it may be that it didn't knock during the test.

the mafs sensor out of range generally means that the mafs is bad, or the wiring to it is bad.

cannot control rpm during high speed portion of the test should not be due to cams, that is more of an issue at low rpms - could be the iac is sticking.

214= Cam or Crank sensor failure.

225= The knock sensor "might" be bad.

Hmmm. The crank sensor is fairly new. Was replaced about 10K miles ago when I did a 60k. I may try replacing the cam sensor. At one point I did have a leaking cam seal that has since been replaced. There has been a couple of times where it will pull really hard, miss for a split second at high rpms then go back to pulling hard. No CEL.

I havent cleaned the maf in a while. I will try that first.

The iac is new as of last year. I will try cleaning it as well. I have been having some intermintent idle issues. I had kinda chalked it up to my cams and the 69mm TB I have....I know there has been a number of people who have had surging ect with the bigger TB. I haven't checked the throttle screw of plate gap yet.

Where is the knock sensor located? Is it a pain to change?

If I remember correctly you need to blip the throttle when prompted during the KOER test - it usually cannot make the engine knock without increasing the load.

Just because you get a MAF out of range code during KOER, does not mean that the MAF itself is bad. Especially since you are also getting a RPM out of range code as well. All it means is that the computer did not see the MAF within a specified setting.

It is the sensor that is in the middle of the block down in the valley by the coolant bypass tube that goes from the water pump to the outlet housing on the other side of the motor. It might be, but in your case since you just built that motor, it should have been taken out and put back in. Maybe?

I pulled up a pic of it on the autozone website. I recognized it as the sensor you re talking about. It should come out pretty easy since it was just installed. I wish there was a way to test it for sure. Ill have to make sure I do the test correctly....I always seem to get something out of order on it.

Yeah, you blip the throttle and then the computer begins to advance the timing. Ill double check the procedure to make sure I get it right. Do knock sensors usually go bad, and if they do fail do they automatically pull timing or do they just let it knock?

If they go bad I think they will just let the engine knock since the engine wont know what is going on. They can go bad since they are near higher temps.

Thanks. I will make sure I replace it pretty quick then.
