PTU replacement

Well the dreaded PTU failure has caught up to me. Hasn't puked yet, but it's coming. New Ford PTU on order, what other gaskets and seals do I needed to get. The ones between the transmission and PTU.

You need to drop the rear of the subframe about an inch.

I did not drop the subframe.
It took some maneuvering , which was difficult due to the weight of it.
I did removed the rear (Firewall) catalytic converter

Thanks. I was trying to figure out how much was involved in getting the transfer case out of my parts car. Apparently it had been replaced recently and I want to scoop it up.

If you remove the rear subframe bolts and lightly loosen the fronts so that you get about 1" of clearance it will come out really easy. If you choose not to it will be a war that will cost you at least an hour if not more.

I was thinking about this again last night.
I’m pretty sure I also removed the lower front engine dog bone isolator and ratchet strapped the engine forward to get the clearance I needed.
I thought I had a pic somewhere but can’t find it.

Good pictures and info. I went looking online and I found your write-up on doing this. I've been underneath the car for the last few hours. I'm looking at the transfer case and it doesn't look like it has been replaced recently and I see signs of transmission fluid on the transfer case. Not sure if this was due to the overfilling of the transmission or the seal on the transfer case is leaking. In which case it's probably toast or am I assuming wrongly?
On the other hand I've pulled the hoses on the compressor sides of both turbos and they look like brand new and feels like zero shaft play. Outside they both look like crap. So far it stripped three of the heads off of the nuts holding the downpipes to the turbos.

Thanks for all the recommendations, greatly appreciate it. Going to have the dealer where I bought my 2016 F150 do the swap. Goes in Thursday for the swap. Hate having someone else work on my car, but still on chemo treatments, just easier right now.

Hopefully it all goes well for you. Both the car repairs and your chemo. My girlfriend's going through the last of her chemo right now.

Got the car back Friday. Took little longer due to some gaskets taking longer to the dealer. When we pick her up, felt like a totally different car. Just seemed to go. Went to the track today and was totally surprised. Very little prep and no sun on the track, the car just took off. Before PTU replacement, the SHO would have tire spin, no she just hooks and goes. I have the old one, will open it up to see what is/was starting to fail.
