Took mine to an AAMCO. They charged me 290 I think for just PTU.
48k miles on it. 2015 PP. It had been changed before and there was a bunch of metal fragments on the magnet. The fluid didnt look like sludge though.

anybody try aamco or a trans shop?

I have seen posts where AAmco did the PTU oil change for under $300. Trick is you have to find the dealer or repair shop that knows what you are talking about and knows how to do it right. Or, take the time and do it yourself.

My issue is getting to the drain plug. I already have all the tools and oil, even a pump but it is hard to get to without a lift. Also, I'm a bit older and it's hard to get up and down. Don't laugh, it could be your future too.

Change the fluid yourself it's easy. It requires a suction pump on the non pp's. Save your self the crazy price these ****** dealers and shops charge.

I’ve got 181,000 on my 2010 SHO. No PTU issues. Did have to replace the torque converter at 169,000 due to slipping. Have changed transmission fluid about three times.

It looks like a PIA to get to the fill plug on my 2015. Why couldn't they have provided a plug on the bottom and fill tube in the engine bay. How much more would that have cost them? This is the work of idiotic bean counters!

Future my butt, I'm 60 this year and I hear what you are saying.
I have 13K miles on my 2015 SHO w/PP., bought last summer.
I have yet to go under there to see what is going on, that will be done when the weather gets better.
I have a jack but you think I need a lift for this?

You could always just drill a hole apply thick grease to a pipe tap tap the hole. flush it fill it. Then you would have your drain plug.

I'm old and have a lift. Best $1500 I ever spent. Used it for 10 years, so far. Get one!!!

I do have a '15 pp. I am sure thinking of spending the $1500. I can finally afford to have this car and put some money in it so, that may be my next purchase.

I got the Gearhead intercooler in, used my lift and I still logged 18 hours. I'm slow and careful, but all bolts and fasteners were accounted for. Also added new anti-freeze.
Finally got a look at the PTU and saw that plug. Oh sh**. Looks like a real challenge.
