I've recently had a new rack put on and the PS fluid is really nasty (been that way since 94 when we first got the car). I am going to change the fluid (ATF TYPE F right?) when I do my 120K and I was wondering if it's possible it put a filter in somewhere?

You can do the "turkey baster flush" over the course of several weeks, repeating every several days.

Otherwise, you can do one of several flush procedures that have been discussed several times in the past. Use the SEARCH feature and look for "power steering flush".

Book calls for Type F. Mercon also works fine.

A PS system filter costs about $1.60 from RockAuto and is inserted inside the return line.

I added two ounces of Auto-RX to my tired PS sytem with clean Amsol ATX fluid. It seems to be reducing the tight turn pulsing issues I have.
