I'm attempting to replace the '93s steering rack with a non-VAPS one from an earlier SHO. (reman A1 rack from rockauto). After taking the VAPS rack off the car, it's clear that the PS pressure switch screws into the VAPS unit itself, so I'm not sure where it's supposed to screw into the non VAPS rack. I'm thinking the older rack must use a different PS pressure hose that has a fitting for the switch. Any help? What's likely to happen if I run it without the switch?

Also, where in the world can I get those dumb little teflon seals for the PS hose fittings? The new rack didn't come with new ones and my old ones are shot.

Thanks alot for the help.

See if these photos show you what you need to know. You may need a new HP line, which IIRC I bought from Advance for a reasonable price. The new line included the new seals.

Thanks Bob. That definitely answers the PS pressure switch question. I'll need to get a new pressure line that has the proper port for the switch.

For general information, the local NAPA store had the teflon seals for $0.36 each.
