Well My fellow Sho bretheren, I think the tranny solution is on its way.
Project "Whine" is a heavy Duty Transmission gear set for our shos.
It will be in production very shortly and I will post details of the gear set.
so far:

1) It will have removable gears from the input shaft (incase you happen to break one)

2) they will have a slight helical gear cut (but will whine some, hence "project whine")

3)It will still use the same syncos (not Dog engagement)

4)1st thru 5th gears are HD.

5)price will be @ $5000.00 for a gear set maybe less but not more.

I've sent Bizzy an IM and I'm waiting on a reply to do a group buy.
I will have more info in the next week or so.

I've been working on this for about 3 years to get a manufacture to do this for a decent price (even thou 5grand is not decent) but that is the best price that I've gotten. I've talked and dealt and shipped trannys and stock gearsets and who knows what with countless manufactures only to have the deals fall though. So alot of work has been put into this project Guys (but thats just an FYI).

Well, what cha guys thinkkk?:type:

Although I will never have that kind of money for that , I applaud your search into this , It must have taken you loads of hours to do such a research.

If this goes through Tony, $5k is a good deal. And with all the boosted SHO's coming of age, and more being built, there is definetely a market. At that price, I would consider getting one for my NA SHO.

Damn you guys.... Just the temptation I need. I'll stay tuned.

This in axles should make it much easeier for my to see 12's.

No, I'm saying without the fear of breaking axles and gears, I can get the stickies drag slicks I want and launch the crap out of it. ;)

However, my newst car with about $600 put into it is a low 12 second car already... It has great traction and low/mid torque, but it doesn't keep pulling like the SHO.

wouldnt it be best, considering these are all custom parts, to make them use DIFFERENT synchros ?

why's that? you mean make a better syncro? Using as many stock replacement parts as possible is best IMO. That way you can easily replace a broken or worn part w/o spending tons of money.

They arent made anymore but can be found.

someone in the 240sx thread said that theres a guy in nj that has 2 700hp sho's with custom trannies.

just ask him which aisle in k-mart he got them from.

I guess it's better to get the whine from the trans, than the supercharger.
It some cases you could have both, if you have a Vortech without the SQ gears, or a roots blower...
I REALLY like the replaceable gears on the input shaft.

Wonder how much extra money it would cost to enable some different ratios to be had with those replaceable gears. I realize that the stock ratios are great for the SHOs torque curve but not very good for 1/4 guys who insist on saying a 14.5 @ 900 mph is respectable :nut:
