Guess it's time for a build thread to try to keep everything more in one area. (don't worry, i'll still post a lot of new threads lol)

2010 Taurus SHO

Stock, the car went a 13.84

shoslip1.jpg

First base tune the car went 13.52 and then a little more tweaking on the rev limiter and stuff got it to a 13.13 (the pass seat was pulled, but the car was still about 4550 with me in it, i'm a big boy at 285)

Modular Depot took the helm on the next tune and netted the first 12 sec pass in a 2010 taurus SHO.

The next goal is obviously to crack the 11 second barrier.

So far the car really doesn't have any physical modifications other than a home cai, which is more like a hai (hot air induction), but it's the only way as of right now to get some sound out of the car

here it is

shocai.jpg

Ken from Modular Depot will be picking the car up tomorrow to do some datalogging and hopefully dial the tune in a little better to get the times down a bit more. We'll see what that nets.

In the looks department, the windows have been tinted 15% and the stock wheels were powder coated black. The car will be picked up wed or thursday to be debadged and to have the lights smoked.

After that Rob from Rigid Race cars locally will be taking a look at the car next week to look at doing custom exhaust all the way back to free up some power and to add a little sound to the car.

Rob does excellent work, here are a couple pics of the cage he did on my lightning

I'll keep updating as we go along!

Black wheels on a black `10 SHO = :dribble:......

I got these ones on order: http://www.primaxwheel.com/primax685.html They're only 18" but they're for Blizzaks.

Terry, I'm sure the CAI has improved its breathability, but being that it's intercooled, do you think there's an improvement in air temp? I'm only mentioning this because you jokingly called yours an "HAI". I'm wondering in this application if a CAI makes a significant difference in that respect.

On turbos, it seems that the intake air is more sensitive to heat, even with an intercooler. The heat rise through the turbos is still diminished with colder intake air.

what size are the downpipes? doing a catback isnt going to free up that much if the downpipes are undersized as well..just a thought having owned and modded 7 diff factory fi'd cars

The pipes out of the Cats are 2" and the cat back is 2.25. The catback DOES make a difference though it is corked up pretty good.

The other key part of the downpipe is the size of the pipes from the turbos to the cats. On the LGT, changing out the downpipes past the turbo makes a HUGE difference. The catback produces minimal gains beyond that.

If I just do the downpipe and load the Stage 2 software, I can cut off 0.4 - 0.5 ET, and pick up 4-5 mph trap speed.

May have to do it to keep up with you guys!!

On some turbo cars they fit both 02's in the downpipe but most are the way you described. (not sure about new sho tho)

From the turbo next is the 02 housing (usually really short) then the downpipe and then the catback. I went from side exit high flow cat with after market thicker 02 housing back to stock on my srt and noticed a pretty big drop in performance. I didn't go to the track but I know a road that's pretty easy to time on. I'm sure the times aren't perfect but I can definitely say my 3" exhaust from turbo back made a pretty big difference.

0-60mph Times?

Beefcake,

Have you or can you do any new 0-60mph sprints to see how much that has improved with these tunes? If CNet & Autoblog can get a 5 sec flat 0-60 run w/ a PP-equipped car bone stock... I'd like to see what yours can do in its current state.

PLEASE make some runs and let us know! :)

Thanks,
