problems with tachometer

ok i just bought this car about a month ago its a 96 the tach is stopped at 125644 and the trip gauge does not work either what are the issues that could cause such issues and what would the fix be

You mean odometer.

It is electrically driven. The motor could be bad, unplugged or the odo gears may have been tampered with.

You need to take the cluster out. Very easy. Two screws at the top and then it pulls straight out.

Look the ODO motor and gears over.

ok so its just the two screws at the top just like the gen 2s? so hopefully it shouldnt take but a few mins to check. i didnt know if i had to change the whole gauge cluster or not i had thought about putting one of the shosource ones in there.

Never did get this figured out. She's gonna be my dd again hopefully and it'd be nice to have an odometer that atleast works.

When I pulled it out before all the wires were fine. Is there a certain voltage that its supposed ti have and how would you know which wires they are? Or should I just say to **** with and live with a busted odometer?

You can replace the odo, or the whole cluster. Did you look on the wire diagram?

How would you get back to the correct mileage?

No funny story bout that had the cd in my back pocket for some reason and somehow made it to the seat of my car. Looks like ill be having to get another copy from you.
