Someone installed an aftermarket Kenwood 10 disc cd player in my new 1993 MTX years ago and when I went to play it, all I get is static and crackling. When I turn the power on, the am/fm doesn't go quiet, it starts to sound like I'm getting out of the listening area but while it does that, I can faintly hear my CD being played. So my cd player seems to be working but it's very fuzzy. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, one more question, could I take the CD player out of my 1995 ATX and swap it into my 1993 MTX with no problems?

If your MTX had the CD originally you sure can. What you more than likely have is a FM modulated CD changer (plays through on a FM station). If you can pull your radio out, make sure all your antenna connections are snug. If I remember my kenwood stuff right, usually you have to run a seperate power supply line and the interface cable. Check the connections on both the radio side and on the CD player side. If it's like the modulator we use to run the Kenwood Sirius tuner there will be a cable going from the changer to a small interface box. From that interface box there will be an "output" and a "control" interface. The control interface goes to the little display/controller, and the output either goes to a cable that connects to a modulator or has both the input from the antenna and the output to the radio. Check ALL of these connections.

If you have any questions PM me or IM me on AIM at Lionel Osbourne. I'll try to help the best I can.
