I searched around a bit, but didn't come up with a method to flush the power steering system, any links or direct advice. Also, is this a weak area for the Gen III, I suspect its a costly one.

Mine sounds like my Exploder pump when its running low (due to a leaking steering box)on fluid; it kinda growls in certain low speed turn situations.

Some seem to think flush can make the sound go away, is this credible?

rj,

The PS moaned on my former '96 months after the motor was replaced. Come to find out, the mechanic who did the motor swap simply forgot to reinstall one of the clamps on the pump and it was sucking air... so to speak. Check the hose connections to the PS pump and make sure the hose hasn't rotted out at all.

Just an FYI.... The power steering rack is a very expensive item to replace.

Mine was covered under my warranty(thank God), but I still had to pay for it in advance(got reimbursed).

Total for the job was about $860(with a reman rack). oh_my
