Only makes whining noise first thing in the morning when accelerating, last amount 2 minutes and goes away. Doesn’t make the whining noise again unless it sits a few hours. Ptu fluid changed and no leaks from unit. I read most put’s start making grinding and crunching noise and start to leak before failing. Not sure if whining noise at acceleration come from them.

That sounds like a very similar scenario to the way my failing PTU was making noise. I referred to it as a "happy dolphin" noise, and it was only when the car had sat for awhile, and worse in the cold weather. I have a thread on this forum somewhere with the details....

I guess I didn't start the thread, but contributed to it. There are a lot of posts here and a lot of different things tried and recommended, but ultimately for me, a new PTU was the fix.

Thank you for the information. Did your old Ptu show any signs of what would’ve caused the noise and effect noise for a few minutes.

So if the car has zero history of its oil changed, the reccomended intervals here on this forum is every 30K. Ford doesn't offer a service interval. The sound u are referring to is failure unfortunately.

It definitely showed signs of what would cause the noise, but not so much why it only lasted a few minutes. One of the bearings appeared to have completely disintegrated, or maybe was never there. Maybe once the oil heated up enough it could flow and sling sufficiently to allow the noise to go away, but I'm just guessing on that.
