I was thinking about this awhile back, and since i am getting the car back on the road this weekend, i think im going to need some type of heater....
i have seen the plug in ones, and thats a last resort....

BUT,
my idea was this...
ok, the heater core is basically a radiator, right?? what if i took a bucket, filled it with water, added some of the radiator stop leak stuff (insert brand) and ran it through the heater core only via a buldge(sp?) pump...

only problems i can think of would be the stuff coming loose and going through the system. also, i dont know if that stuff is heat activated or what?? which means i would have to heat the water to fix it.. but when i run coolant through there, im wondering if that would re- "melt" the stuff again....

does anyone know how that stuff works? is it like a JB weld solution?

I feel this would be ALOT easier than pulling the dash out... and if it dosent work, then im only out a few bucks....

I guess if all else fails i could just drop an egg in there.... :nut:

TIA.

sounds cool to me but you will need about 12 buffing pads and whenever you decide let me know cuz i dont know where ill be living. I think i already mentioned it but we are building a new house and the one ive spent the last 12 years in is now going on the market. I may be living in a motel6 :p

Oh and according to the instructions on that stuff used it says to only use when 60 or warmer. So we might have to wait a bit. I went to put another coat on mine yesterday and it was around 50 here. The stuff had seperated in the bottle and i kept having to shake it up and it ended up not coming out the way i wanted it to. We'll figure up something. Send me some pics of ur car cuz i didnt think it needed a high speed buffing?

I do not know how bad your leak is. But I had a slight odor, and used half a can of Alumniseal (sp). Ran the system for a few hours, then I drained an re-filled the coolant to get any loose amounts out ( I hope ). It worked in my case. I did not have any fogging issues, or an actual leak that I could find. Just the smell in the cabin.

IIRC mine wasnt too bad.... allthough it was about a year ago or so...

I do remember "steam" coming from the defroster... so i think it was on the worse side...
