The factory air system setup isn't that bad as far as the SHO goes. It receives cold air as it is. If you add the cone it sounds great, but unless you rig it up right your drawing hot air from the engine bay. There are advantages and disadvantage either way...

He is right, but the stock setup is restrictive, if you want the best of both worlds, construct a CAI system with the cone filter sitting in the fender area, that way you get rid of the restrictive stock setup, get the volvume change from the cone filter, and the advantages of getting cold air

It is easy to get some 3" expandable semi-rigid aluminum duct. Use about 12" of the duct. Tape it to the air box intake hole using black electrical tape and wrap the entire piece of aluminum then stick it in the fender. Use a K&N panel filter.

Otherwise do this. My Intake

SHOSHOP.COM has a cone filter cold air box for the Gen III foe about 240. It looks pretty good but it is a little high boink

The SHO Shop kit does not do a good job of keeping the temps down. It is what I had and decided to take some temp readings just prior to the TB. I had temps of 120F and more at times with it. I did insulate and seal it more to get +5F ambient temps there though. Look rather rigged though, ghetto is the term I believe.

In the end I used the SHO Shop supplied air filter and MAF adapter plus about $30 worth of materials to put the filter in the fender.

Best and cheapiest

Buy the panel filter, take the wheel off and then the inner fender and cut the sax off above the muffler.

Unless you want to do try your own thing, or what Nimz and I have done but cutting out some steel from the upper rail to allow a 3" (full) intake happen.

Hehe. This is exactly what I did. Thanks Kirk!
I have been thinking about getting a cone filter to put in the fender and taking the panel filter out, and maybe one day adding cold-air. but I have heard that these air modifications actually INCREASE 0-60 times. Is this true?? shrug headbang

Where can I get a MAF adapter to fit our cars? I've searched and searched, but haven't found one yet.
