I get this popping sound when I first accelerate or when I first hit the brakes when slowing down. I am guessing maybe its the subframe bushing; but my question----is it because my SHO has never had the subframe bolt recall done or is it making sound just because of worn out bushings? [shrug]Or could it possibly be any other bushings? When it pops, it sounds almost right underneath the drivers door or in the vicinity.........any suggestions?

If you've not had the recal done, then what are you waiting for? It's free after all.

You don't want to drop your subframe on the hwy doing 70.

I tried to get the recall done about 6 months ago, but the Ford dealership in my town just kept giving me the run-around so I pretty much just said f*^k them. finger Then I had to do some major engine work since I had a rod bearing that went south and while I was at it, I did the 60K since it had not been done yet and I was sittin at 108K miles on the car. So 3 months later I get the SHO back up and running and now this is where I am sitting. I still am planning on the whole suspension upgrade thumb and replacing all of the bushings, shocks and springs, and mow maybe subframe bushings. Whew!! headbang

I had a similar problem, *** replaced my SFBs with Gen 3s. Mine were torn up pretty bad, one had a large crack and the top ring was rusted away and it jsut kind of fell apart in my hand.

The problem, however, didn't go away.
I now think it's the front motor mount, but I'm not sure. I also need new struts and initially though that they might play a role in it.

We'll find out out, eventually.

My old subframe bushings were shot at 150k. They made noise when I first accelerated, braked, and turning in parking lots, speedbumps..and the such. What I did was put Aluminum subframe bushing in and went to a dealership and bought 2 subframe recall kits (new bolts and washers and such). What a difference! No more noises and a much more solid feel, it is amazing. Well, that is what I suggest you do, don't take it to the dealer just buy the recall sets and do it yourself.
