I am currently driving my 89 and boy is it making some noise!

First one to start up after installing the STB's, struts, and springs is the vibrating in reverse coming from the rear. After I come to a stop, it's still vibrating until it goes away within 2-3 seconds.

Next, which happened tonight, when I came to a stop on the access road, I hit the brakes pretty good to see how the springs were. Right after that, I turned under the bridge and punch it in 1st gear. I took the revs up to 6k, then I made a 2 second upshift to second gear and went WOT up to 60 mph. When I let off, I started to hear this popping sound that varied with speed. The sound does go away when you turn to the right at any speed or get below 15 mph.

What do yall think?

I got under the SHO[gas station] in an attemp to see if something was vibrating/loose or if the subframe was loose, nothing. So, I kept driving home, about 20 miles, thinking the whole way of what it could be. I then came up with a broken coil. I wish I would've known and got a chance to look when I was at the gas station, but now I have to wait until tomorrow when the sun comes up.

Well, the coil is fine and the subframe bolts were still torqued to spec. I put a little more torque on the pinch bolt and outter tie rod end, but I don't know if that's going to help and I can't go anywhere right now to test it out.

Also, I have a question. If my toe is not adjusted correctly right now, is there some way that it can put all the load back on the inner tie rod and cause it to pop? The only time it doesn't pop is when I turn right and that's the direction my toe is pointing in. I haven't had time to adjust the toe, but will do by this weekend. Both are turned slightly in, if that helps, and all 4 tie rods are good, no slack at all.

Edit: Well the problem still exist! I jacked the wheels up and took it up to 60 mph and the problem never occured, so it only happens on the road.

Does anyone have ideas or am I just talking to myself here!

Update:

I was driving beside my lady and asked if she could hear the noise. She heard it and said it was coming from the rear. My first intentions, she is ********!

Well, I ended up trying to put my ears in the back seat while driving tonight, as she told me late evening, and the popping was more noticable. It then clicked together that the backing up vibrations definately came from the rear, and possibly the popping, too.

So, as I was driving, I was thinking the only thing possible to make the noise travel up front by the dash was the e-brake cable. And not to mention, that cable looks like it hangs down some ever since I bought the car. I then pushed the e-brake down 2 clicks at 35 mph and the popping was less noticable. I either forgot to install the cable to the caliper or it's just in the way with the rims. I'll be fixing it tomorrow.

Darn brake cable and solid mounts and bushings everywhere don't help finding out where the noise is coming from! I swear I can hear everything going on in this car, even if there was a pencil in the airbox! :nut:
