Nope, shouldn't hurt it, but is it practical...? and will it support the engine to redline or become a hindrence half way in the rpm band...?

I thought of a neat idea about a electric blower (A custom built unit from model airplanes) that I think could work. I wouldn't talk about it on this forum, its against peoples religion, trust me I know...

From what has been gathered it will not work. Forcing the air into the engine without compressing it will not do much good. This is why a Turbo Has a Compressor Side which Compresses the Air as its drawn into the Turbo. This is why Turbo cars need an intercooler. The Air that gets compressed gets pretty hot from the actual compression.

So in theory it sounds like a good idea but in reality its not.

I did this on my saturn just for kicks to see what would happen. the leaf blower I was using was gas and made 0 boost when the engine was at idle but once the engine hit about 4K I was running 4psi of boost and it held that to redline. The leaf blower compressor needs flow to be able to compress air other wise it cavitates and essentially does nothing. with a tweecer and some tuning you could potentially gain about 50hp from this and you could use you stock fuel system to do it. the only problem you will come across is mounting a leaf blower. They are kind of big, we took the hood off my saturn and used a liberal amount of duct tape to make it happen. and unless you already have a tweecer and a leaf blower it will be cheaper, yield much better results and be a **** of a lot less embarrassing to use a product designed to achieve the results you are looking for.
