Ooooo, just noticed this one, that Ti with police grill and clear corners looks pretty damn hot.

Darn you :ohreally: now I am going to have to start looking for police grill

That was Steve's 89. One of the sexiest SHO's in E-town. That white one beside it looks pretty hot as well. ;)

Same white gen one, seven years latter.

That's what I did:

Took me quite a while, but turned out pretty good. It's still not perfect.

1.fill the back of a regular grille with expanding foam insulation
2.cut slots
3.fill in and smooth out with Bondo (and lots of it, many coats:nut:)
4.sand and file until your knuckles bleed

The lights I got off fleebay. I bought two but one faded/pitted really quickly (6 months) and the one stayed clear. So the left is the older one and the right is the newer one.

Thanks for the compliment

So it worked out my firend! did those mesurments i gave you help? looks good!

Yeah, thanks again! I marked them out and taped the lines, then used the good old jig saw to tear the **** out of it...I wish I had used something else.

The coping saw was just too damn slow and a pain in the ass. I also have Black and Decker scroll saw, but it didn't have a big enough arm and the grille wouldn't fit. Dremel didn't work, any bit I had anyway.

The Bondo work just too forever, about 10-15 applications and sanding between each. I found a square file at Harbor Freight that worked pretty file on all 4 sides, about 3/8 inch square. After I got it fairly straight, I used Bondo Glazing Putty. Much easier to shape and sand.

I'm fairly happy with it now, but sometime when I'm bored this summer I'll do some more shaping and sanding and paint it. Still black, but probably semi-gloss or satin instead of primer flat.

Good stuff, glad i could help. it def looks good! i was kinda scared to use a jigsaw cause its so aggressive, i fricking broke one of the dealios using a drillbit for the corners... the other thing i used that works 100% better was a zip disk in a disk holder on a cordless drill. you end up melting plastic but if you dont mind, it works really well. give'er a try.

I lucked out last year. I went to a government auction looking to buy some P71s and happened across an old beat up police issue taurus. As soon as I saw it I honed in on the grille. I paid $50 for the entire car. I would have paid twice that just for the grille. As an added bonus the car ran pretty decent too.

100 4390

100 9894

100 9896

Same grill on its current car.

Best thread bump of '10 so far :thumb:

That is, until one of the painted/powdercoated intake manifold threads gets bumped.

By the way man, the police are watching you... 3rd picture from the bottom. The ducks are after you too, 2nd pic from the bottom. Finally, I'm after you for scoring a Police grill for $50 with a decent car attached!!!
