YES IM BACK!!!

Special thanx to everyone who has helped me through AIM and Email so far.

AWW YEA MY SHO IS DEAD

God where do i start?

Ok,

Last week wednesday the car wouldnt start and i was at the mall. In the morning i had the car towed to my girl's house about 8 miles away cuz the tow truck couldnt go on to the parkway.

The car doesnt crank, theres no buzzing, no dimming, nothing.

I know from previous experiences that the car wont start unless i put the tranny stick to drive then to park (or simply jiggle the stick).

I ran the codes 3 or 4 times. The first time i got a 558, the other times i got a 111. I dont know why this happened but it did.

I then thought perhaps the park neutral safety switch was at fault. I jumpered the plug for this switch in order to start the car (no dice.)

I then checked under the car and found quite a bit of oil on the battery cables. I wiggled the cables and tried to start the car ( no dice again.)

what do you suggest is the prob?
I really need your help.

BtW, I did a few searches on the boards and was advised from a fellow forum member to hammer the starter while turning the key- I will do so in the morning.

Thanks for your time.

im pretty certain the battery is charged, im gonna try a voltmeter reading tomorrow as well. Is there a way of me testing the starter by leaving it where it is? im kinda weary about removing it... Im still a neophyte at this.

No power at all? Turn the headlights on, and walk to the front of the car. If they do not come on wiggle the battery cables and or check to see if the battery is dead.

Could be several things. Bad battery, Bad alternator that killed the battery, Loose wires, Bad starter ect.....Let us know how you make out.......

ignition switch

it is just a thought, but if you have power when you turn the head lights on but when you turn the key on you get nothing, it might be an ignition switch i had the same problem with my 98 i took it to a dealer and thats what they said it was. its located on the steering column there will be a rod connected to it comming from the lock cylinder.

This morning i went under the car and struck the starter with a hammer while my girl turned the key. IT WORKED!!! :thumb:
Turns out that its the starter.

I knew i should have covered it when i changed the oil. My laziness lead to a week of grief.

I'll probably try to clean the starter next week. First i gotta do a search on this forum to see how to remove it and disassemble it.

Thanks for the quick responses and help guys.
:D
