Update!!! But have major problem with steering or rack shake...while idling...no joke

Hey guys have another problem...imagine that. Replaced my tranny this weekend(yes pulled the engine out with it also) got it all back together and now no start. This is on a 95 atx.I have power to all lights etc... Starter is brand new not a single mile on it.Now when i got car back together i did have two plug in connectors that are not connected to anything.Im not sure if this were connected to begin with. One is right by master cylinder and is a two pronged connnecter that is BROWN, it is a square connector..The other is along drivers side fender from main harness and is round and black if that helps. It may be an extra one that was never connected. There is one identical that is close by, although its not close enough to be switched accidentally. It sits right by air filter casing.Im gonna check all connections to starter/battery tonight. Please give me any input you may have,Thanks again.

I have a '95 ATX also, that has that brown plug unplugged near the firewall/heater hose area also. It has always been unplugged and I have never been able to find a place to put it. However, I think that the black plug might be a source of a problem.

Is the battery charged and all the grounds connected?

I am going to be doing the same thing to my ATX, except swapping the motor not the tranny and i'm trying to decide if I want to pull them out together or seperately. How hard was it for you to pull them both out together?

I'm not going to be any real help with the ATX, but here's a few pointers.

1. Look at the inside of the connectors to see if they're clean or dirty. If they're dirty then the chances are that they were never connected. I know of 2 connectors on the MTX non-Cali cars that aren't used on the driver's side.

2. Double check that no wires got caught between the bell housing of the trans and the motor. Don't ask me why I suggest this.

3. Double check the PCM ground wire on the passenger side as well as the ground straps that connect to the fire wall and intake.

update

Ok update time.Got the car to start by crossing silinoid and it fired up.So obviously somewhere between ignition and starter. But the mentioning of that strap rings a bell.I dont remember taking it off or puting it back on.So that may be the source of that problem.Im still not seeing the black connecter. But now i have another problem,.... :oogle: When it was running as soon as i touched the steering wheel to turn it,steering wheel suddenly and violently started shaking back and forth.I shut her down to stop it.I tryed again and did the same thing.Im going to do some reaserch tonight on it but hoping you guys can help me with some suggestions.Ill check all grounds again also.
As for pulling it.... Not as bad as i though it was going to be.I would think and have heard its easier to pull it droping the frame. But wasnt that bad.If you do pull through the top you have to remove bar that is bolted to the tranny so it will clear what i assume is the abs module.I did remove the whole darn wiring harness and left it laying over the side of car only to realize later that all you have to do is unbolt the harness from firewall and all those sensors and harnesses can stay with engine. That would of saved me a ton of time.Have a leveler on the cherrypicker, patience, and some good toones and youll be alright. :thumb: I would mark connecters too...will save you some time.Have fun and thanks for the responses so far.

If you could take a picture of the black connector I bet we could figure it out. I just swapped my tranny on my '94 ATX (pulled the engine and tranny out the top).

I saw that brown connector you were talking about and knew that I hadn't dissconected it, but it still got me worrying for a while. I think I may remember the black connector you are talking about, but a picture would help a lot.

Aight heres where im at now.Steering wheel shaking problem was that i reversed the power steering lines going into the rack and pionion. Not good  ...but is ok now.The not starting issue was solved by making sure the saftey nuetral switch was all the way pluged in.Needless to say she fires up now.So i have a couple things i need to figure out now. When i come from a dead stop and accelerate, when it shifts from 1st to 2nd i loose power...my heater/ac unit shuts off and stereo sometimes shute off for a second also.I dropped her down this morning a bit and when the engine shifted power turned off again.I noticed last night that when it happened my lights and dash lights flickered. So im thinking its a ground somewhere? Also speedometer isnt working.I checked connection at tranny and its looks correct. Its all the way pushed in and clip is clipped correctly. That brings me to the balck connecter question.I took a peak at a 95 sho at a dealership to see where it went. It goes to the drivers side wheel knuckle. So is speed measured from trannsmission or at the wheel with a sensor? I do have Abs and that is on right front wheel. Is Abs on both sides and that connecter is from another abs sensor? Well keep you updated :thumb:

Back again...flickering of lights were due to a not tight enough positive cable on the battery.Easy fix thank gosh.Speedo still not working but thats about the only thing.Im still wondering what that black connector is for? Thanks again for all the input.

that black connector is the ABS sensor. there should be a matching plug right there near the firewall. Your ABS light should be on.
