okay, i posted awhile ago, that my wipers stop working altogether when it rains pretty good, well today was the first snow storm and they were working fine, then the ice pellets came and it melted on the windshield since i had the heat on, then the wipers stopped!! this is very dangerous and i dont know what to do. i replaced the whole arm assembly, something is shorting out the motor, but when i spray a hose on it, i cant duplicate it!!!!! what can i do??? cause im gonna get in an accident soon if this doesnt get fixed!

Are you sure the actual switch in the cabin is working correctly? mine shorts out and will cut in and out when I wiggle the switch.

Just asking in case it's just a fluke coincidence that water makes it do it.

I can second the notion that you might consider a multifxn switch. Mine will work on low/high but the interval (esp the lower settings) will sometimes stop working. Usually flipping high beams and/or turn signals will make it work again (though only temporarily) Anyone else have any guesses?

Mine does the same thing. The problem is in the base of the MFS, the end of the stalk is fine.

Well, you never know, it might solve the issue with a few of these people. shrug That cleaning procedure fixed my finicky MFS.

My switch wouldn't work either. Only on the low or high settings would it work. When I put on the intermittent, it would swipe once and then just sit there. My spray wouldn't work either. I cleaned it to no avail. I went to the salvage yard and pulled a multifunction switch off a '93 slo. Now I have that jiggle problem, but i had that on my '95 slo too, so I'm used to it now.

i changed the whole stalk, doesnt that include a MFS? yeah it only does it with water!!!!!!!
Mike, It might be the wiper motor since it only does it if it's wet out. The connection to the motor could be bad too- a little moisture and it acts up.
