OK here it is I have a 94 3.2l sho the trans shifts fine in to reverse and drive but it wont shift into second when driving it hits were second should be and hits neutral i can hold it in first manually but still no second. I have pulled the codes and I get a code 646 ( incorrect second gear ratio).I just bought the car, It has been sitting for about 1 1/2 yrs it has 217,000 miles. My question is could it be a solinoid or does it need a rebuild?
thx in advance riffsimm

My tranny did that for 3rd gear when it needed a rebuild. I didn't see third again untill it was rebuilt. At that mileage I would imagine it needs a rebuild. How does the fluid look?

fluid is nice and red, doesnt smell burnt. i was just hoping it would be a quick fix that could last for a month or so. I guess I will need a trans rebuild. thx

You may want to check the SHO Club classifieds, I found a Ford rebuilt one there. I had a local tranny shop check it out and install a Trans-Go kit.

i hear that the vss may be resposible for this...it will tell the compu how fast you are going, how far the pedal is down, and therefore when to shift gears for the auto. im am having some problems with my 93...it seems to sometimes not know when to shift.
