You can either bypass the amp and run your speakers off the head unit power, or intergrate the amp. Also, you could buy an aftermarket amp. If you plan on upgrading the speakers too, I would suggest an aftermarket amp. If you are not upgrading the speaker and just installing the new head unit, try it off the head unit power. The harness is cheaper, and if you don't like it you're only out $15 instead of being out alot more[ I think about $40-50] for the amp integration harness. Just my $.02

Good choice on head unit too. I have the same one running my system. All the features of the high end ones without dolphins swimming around, for half the price [ I picked mine up for $170] thumb

I have the same head unit and a 6 CD changer. I have it hooked up to an Alpine MVR-F450 amp. The front speakers are MB Quart RSC 216 components, Pioneer 6X8 rear (I spent my money on the front speakers since that is where I sit), and Alpine 10" sub in box in the trunk. I like the clarity and sound I get from the system.

xroll2001:
how do the pioneers sound?
The speakers sound pretty good, but not as good as the MB Quart speakers. I can't vouch for the low frequency response sense the subwoofer handles all below 100hz. I don't remember the exact model number, but they are a three way design and cost me about $70. The head unit sound good and you can make many adjustments to the eq to tailor your sound to your liking. If you like bass there is a built in eq that enhances the bass. I like the eq flat with a small amount of bass increase.

That's the same deck I plan on getting in the coming weeks. I'm definately getting mine from eBay, check out the prices here.

I already bought my front and rear Pioneer speakers off there, now just need the deck to complete the system. thumb

I like the Alpine Type-R series. That's what I plan on puttin in the car when I do my surround system. There's nothing wrong with the Pioneers though. They're a good sounding speaker at a budget price.
