Had the same problem with the PP Tires

When I purchasd my 2011 SHO, I had the same problems with the tires and the lack of a spare tire.

If you have access to the November 2009 issue of Consumer Reports, the Michelin Primancy MXV4 was the top rated tire in the Performance All-Season group. I thought the 4 page article did a good job explaining the differences in the types of tires and the various trade-offs of each type.

I had new Michelin Primancy MXV4 tires mounted on the original wheels and I sold the summer tires to another new SHO owner for $400.

For a spare tire, the dealer found an "unused" wheel and tire from a local parts dealer (a totaled 2009 Taurus).

Have 7500 miles and I have been happy with the results.

Get tires, rims, torque wrench and floor jack. Don't worry about the tpms sensors. I have Blizzak 70's on 18" rims from Tire Rack and they are pretty solid.

Here in Canada, they charge 25$ to install winter tires already on rims. If you just have the tires, they need to install and balance them and they charge about 75$ to do it. So, you save 50$ (or 75$ if you do it yourself) 2 times a year. After 4 years, that is close to 400$ in savings. Also, you will preserve your 20's mags longer. For winter tires (unless you get a **** of a deal like I did), you can go with 18's or 19's and for a set of 4 tires, you will pay around 1000$ for very good ones. If you buy 20 inches winter tires, they will cost nearly double. So, for what you save, you could buy nice winter mags of 18 or 18 inches with good winter tires and still save money over 4 years.
In my case, I found a guy that got rid of his SHO and had bought after market 20's mags with winter tires on them and the TPMS sensors... He had paid 4K$ and drove on them for 2-3 months... they look brand new. I paid 1,700$ for whole package... which is what I was about to pay for 18'S wheels with winter tires on them, without sensors and without the nice look of 20's... I got lucky though... you can llok for used also... perhaps Ford Edge's mags or Mustang that use the same bolt pattern.

I'll have to do something as the dealer just said they would/could not change the tires to the Michelins with the pp. I just hate paying another 1k on top of the price of the car. We might just not get the pp and just get the 20" wheel option..

You just gotta be firm and do what Chad said in post #6 and tell the dealer the deal is off unless you either get a 2nd set of wheels with the Michelins at their price or swap them out!

You should mention at this time of the year in these colder temps, it is down right dangerous to drive on the F1's and go on a rant on how they are endangering you and your family or something like that Haha

I would NOT recommend the RS-A's. They tend to wander when they are installed on my Brick. To quote my TireRack specialist, Mason Rush... they are a good $50. tire that costs 3-4 times that!

I'll be going to the dealership in a week or so for my regular maintenance. I'm going to bring up the vibration issue with my RSA's (19") that I had mentioned in another thread (seems the RSA's have a reputation for vibrating)...is there any good 19" tire for winter that Ford can get their hands on? I would think this would fall under warranty, as it appears the tires are causing a noticeable vibration.

I saw a post somewhere that it will fit. I used 18"x8" 2010 GT rims which fit fine.

As long as they're '05+ Mustang wheels, they should fit. The SHO has the same brake rotors as all of the other Taurus trims and the SE comes stock with 17's.

It would end up being expensive 19 winter tires and I'm worried the extra half inch wouldn't rub inside.. but I love how the 2011 GT rims look! (photochopped)

This is the easiest/cheapest I've found is 18s from belle tire. Not as cool. =)

Well the dealer is going to swap the 20" Goodyear summer tires with the Michelins. They are going to charge a few hundred bucks for which I can live with. All though the Michelins are not as good as a true winter tire they are waaay better than the F1's in the winter here in Illinois..
