Hello All,

This coming week I will be placing an order for My 15 Ingot Silver SHO.

My have been going back and forth trying to figure out if the Performance package is worth it.

I live in Michigan so a second set of wheels and blizzaks will be in the works.

Any Feedback is greatly appreciated. :thankyou:

What do you plan to use the car for 90% of the time?

If you have no plans of ever taking it to the track, then I would say the PP is not worth it.

I think it's worth it. I never was going to use the Adaptive CC. I wanted the cooling, alcantara steering wheel, higher gear, and to disable the nannies. Collision warning would be nice but didn't really need it.

If you drive a lot on the highways, I'd get the Adaptive CC and go without the PP.

Be sure to check out used SHO's. I got my 8 month old every option PP SHO with 5500 miles for $30,500.

In my humble opinion, the PP is worth every penny of the $1995 upgrade. The gear ratio and the ability to completely turn off Advancetrac is superb. PP coupled with a tune and my car is a beast. (Ecobeast!!) Below is a blurb from Road & Track online.....

'2013 Ford Taurus SHO with Performance Package
The brakes get a larger master cylinder bore for a pedal ratio change that gives you less travel at the top of the pedal for a firmer feel, and the rear vented brake rotors are 30 percent larger. The already massive vented front rotors get dual piston 48-mm calipers with performance friction pads, and the pistons themselves have high-temp dust boots and seals that pull the pads more effectively away from the discs for less heat buildup. Chassis upgrades include stiffer front springs to reduce under steer and a front anti-roll bar that's actually a little smaller to get the car to roll and pitch in a more predictable and balanced fashion. The shock absorbers have been modified for better low-speed damping, and the electric-assist steering has been re-calibrated for better feedback from the big 20-in Goodyear Eagle F1 245/45 tires mounted on distinctive SHO cookie-cutter style wheels. Extra track-day heat is carried away by a pair of water-to-oil coolers plumed into a radiator core with extra capacity. One helps the PTO on the transmission to run 16 percent cooler, and the other cools the engine oil.'

You get PTU & heavy duty trans cooling with the PP (and Police Interceptor) package, along with suspension/brake pad/final drive upgrades. If you can do without the niceties of the ACC pack, then the PP is definitely worth it for the longevity of the drivetrain at a minimum. But people do love the ACC pack :)

Speed/performance-wise, a tune will negate any advantage the PP gear ratios give you.

Everyone thanks so much for the responses and feedback.

The bulk of my drive will be back and forth from work and picking up my kid from my in laws. Overall daily driving of 50 Miles. I wouldn't be going to the track and testing the cars performance out. I drove a Supercharged Charger RT for 4 years I don't think I will need that type of performance anymore.

Does anyone know why they have never offered the PP with ACC? Is it because of the coolers in the front grill that would interfere with ACC? If that's so, you think they would of figured out how to package both by now.

A) Marketing B) Servicability would be my top guesses. But you CAN fit the trans cooler in there if you put in some elbow grease.

I special ordered a platinum white 2015. I opted out of the PP and opted in on every other option possible. The car is for my wife but I drive it on the weekends and love it. I wanted a smooth ride with all the bells and whistles. We are very impressed with the SHO. She traded a 2011 Limited and its night and day difference.

I did my normal 3 coats of paint sealant and topping it with Spray on Carnuba. Had the windows tinted 1 step under legal, and put the silver SHO hood stripes on. It is really sharp!

For me, PP is not worth it, but YMMV. On rough public roads, the softer suspension is better for me - it's nicely firm as is for daily driving. If you're going to do track driving, autocross, etc, you'd want the PP, or a Lotus!

PP is worth it. I live in Dallas and absolutely love having the bigger brakes/performance tires. Saved my bacon more than once in bumper-to-bumper traffic.

I bought my '14 Platinum White with the PP. I have not regretted it a bit, and in fact were I to do it again I would get another PP.

If you don't mind me asking then why are you getting the SHO model? If you're just commuting why not the Limited or SEL model? The Limited looks real sharp with the right packages / add-ons.

Hey, off topic here but I'm looking at your picture of your car and you say it's a PP SHO but I hate to burst your bubble but it's not. Right ahead of your front wheels you have an indenture in the bumper and that's for the adaptive cruise or lane assist - SHO's with the PP don't get this option period. You go to Ford.cm and build one - try to add the Lane Assist or Adaptive Cruise and it forces you to remove the PP option.

Actually...

It is quite possible that he has the PP. The indenture you speak of is likely for the Active Park Assist. This was included in the 402A Equipment Package, which you could indeed get on a 2013 with the PP. What you mentioned above is correct for the 2014 model year.

Come On Man! Know your stuff.... that sensor in the front is for the auto park assist, as stated above. This is why a '13 PP SHO is the best :D

Got ya! I'm not huge into Ford even though I've had a couple Expeditions and now this SHO. But my babies are Audi - I modded the **** out my 2010 S4, got into the mid 11's! Next is going to be the twin turbo V8 Audi S6! The SHO is my daily and mostly for Winter. But I'm getting the itch to mod the SHO too.

Should be able to get the '14 SHO into the low 12's with a tune, 93 fuel, and methanol injection (as one possible route). Good tires & tire pressure a must ;)
