Noooo.... it absolutely WAS all full laps! Of the 1.7 miles, only maybe 1/8 mile was used for lining up, with a little lead time before that where you really want to slow down so you don't hit anyone. From the starting line, it's all out, then just go allllll the way around the circuit until the line starts. Full circle. Entire North Track. Only first 1/8th counts for win/lose.

For clarity... here's the anatomy of the Flashlight Drags at PittRace... note that this is OPPOSITE direction that the track is normally run.

I am from the Philly side and would love to meetup! Maybe a Harrisburg area meet? I know a couple of guys from another SHO forum that would likely want to go too!

It's good that there's some interest for this. I should probably start making a list of people interested. :)

OK, bottom line, given the time of year, a track day at PittRace will definitely need to wait for spring... so for those interested in doing a "pre-track-day" get together just to meet first, I'm definitely thinking of a "Cars and Coffee" kinda deal, probably early December. If anyone interested wants to go, I'll be needing you to post or PM where you live (even if only roughly) so I can figure out the best "in the middle" location to accommodate everyone as best as possible.

For now, in spite of an undecided location, let's plan on the 6th of December (first Saturday.) Everyone good with that?

Oh and it wouldn't hurt if people would PM me email addresses to make sure I can communicate with everyone... I know I don't get updates on every single post for subscribed threads... they seem to only come once after I've visited a thread, and that's it. So, if you can PM that to me, or email me at my username here on the forums @gmail.com, that'd be perfect.

I believe I can do that. I live just outside of Philadelphia on the west side

We might need a three part Cars and Coffee West/Central/East" I think PHL-PIT is a long way to go just for Cars/Coffee. Obviously I can't decide on another drivers limits but how we set a 2 hour limit for driving? This will keep people fresh for the visit and not wear them out.

We could also set up meets at different times. If we cant get everyone together on the same Saturday. My personal limits are within 2 hours of Downtown Pittsburgh, pretty much every Saturday AM. If I didn't work midnights it would probably not be an issue.

RCR Seems to be taking charge on the Western PA/Eastern OH side, any volunteers to coordinate a Central and Eastern side?

RCR I will send you email and some possible available times/locations.

I agree there are advantages to splitting up a cars and coffee into regions... particularly, if it's going to be a burden to anyone. I'd rather have 3x people show up to a split meet than 1x the people show up to a singular meet. And if we'd do them on different days, some of us that don't mind the drive could go to more than one. Personally, I don't mind hitting the east side of PA as well - we have family there, so that's a trip we make somewhat regularly anyhow.

But as 2011TaurusSEL pointed out, not everyone's necessarily going to want to drive very far for a Cars n' Coffee. So, let's add something to the list... things to provide to help us make a proper list of folks interested:

  1. Email (if you haven't done so already)
  2. Location (even if just general area)
  3. Max driving distance for:
    • Cars n' Coffee - "first meet"
    • Track day - "big meet"

If it comes down to a small enough group, and people are evenly divided across the state, so that central PA becomes the best location; that's typically within 2 hours drive for most Pennsylvanians. Some Ohioans might find that a bit far though. Hard to know unless you say something ;)

So, we'll plan on one or more Cars n' Coffee meets, depending on everyone's tolerances and schedules. I'm betting a Saturday is going to be best for everyone, generally speaking, since most people work M-F.

Just got an email from the guy that runs the Flashlight Drags. He'd like to discuss some options with me in person on what we can do for all of us come spring. I've already told me there's about 12 guys I can get to a special event (so far, as guestimated). I don't know if we went with his organization for our track day, if it would actually be at PittRace, or if it would need to be done at Green County Airport. (That's the FLD's typical haunt.) Either would be good I'd think.

If you guys would please do a Google maps for Green County Airport and Pittsburgh International Raceway, let me know if either or both are feasible, and which one's closer for you. (I'd bet PittRace would be the de facto closer one, but I could be wrong.)

OK, so on to an informal cars n' coffee meet in December. You guys still up for that?

January would probably be better, although I don't drive my SHOs when there is salt on the ground.

I haven't heard from anyone in a while on this... but spring is right around the corner (as I sit here with my house encased in snow, lol.) I was actually just thinking about this. In all the hub-bub of moving to a new house, I never did call the owner of Flashlight Drags about discussing what our options might be for the spring. I should probably do that... and we should probably start talking cars n coffee again too; I imagine the salt will be gone by end of March... so maybe 1st or 2nd week of April for cars 'n coffee, and I can also call FLD owner and find out what's up on that end for later in the spring or early summer, as a separate thing.

What do you guys think? Cars 'n coffee in April? Oh, there's also a cars n' coffee for Pittsburgh, an already established regular event... but for all sorts of great cars, pretty big from what I understand. We could piggy back off of one of those and enjoy other cars too :)

I'm totally game... there's an established Cars n' Coffee bi-weekly meetup for the Pittsburgh area (Saturdays 9am-12pm at Generoasta in Warrendale, PA) if we want to piggyback on that. Chance to SHO off our rides and check out some other amazing cars too. Today marks the first meeting for them, and since it's biweekly, the next one seems to be on Saturday the 25th, 9am-12pm. The website for this event is:

http://www.pghcnc.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=959

Alternatively, we can do something totally different, our own (obviously much smaller) Cars n' Coffee... but it seems a good fit to do the existing one, so... we all good for that one? Post away, I'm going to say "yes" right now for the 25th at Pittsburgh Cars n' Coffee... I'll only not go if no one else says they're definitely going. If you guys do want our own mini-private CnC, then post that too.

Let's get this ball rolling.

Also... I just posted a forum email/conversation to everyone that posted in here. However, I don't get notification of emails, only forum posts, so I'm hoping that one way or another we snag everyone's attention.
