Hey gang.I was doing some spirited mountain driving today and having a blast.I started up a elevated curve and downshifted when I get this feeling of an atou trans. slipping.I pull over quick to check it out and find the plug on the DIS module has broke off.I rigged it and got it home and ran some codes. The ones that bother me are 15 and 55.I recently had tune up with Motorcraft plugs/wires,intake gaskets, cam cover gaskets, and cleaned intake well.

15 being- no keep alive memorypower to PCM pin 1 or bad PCM (memory test failure)KAM (pin 1)was interupted (was battery disconnected?)

55 being-No or Low(under 7.5 volts)key power to PCM pin 5.

The battery was not disconnected. The DIS module is fixed now.Any thoughts on this? What is the PCM?I did several searches with no luck. Thanks alot! thumb

The PCM is the Powertrain Control Module, ie. the Computer.

Try tightening the 10mm bolt that goes through the plug into the computer for the main wiring harness. Also check the smaller wire that runs to the negative battery terminal.

Will do.Thanks for the help.Would this possibly cuase a lack of performance? After all the work I've done to my 91 I would have thought I would have got more power,or at least better mileage.Power and mileage are about the same as before shrug

Well, a trip to the dyno is the only way to find out if you're missing power.

As for fuel economy, what are you getting?

Uh, WHICH DIS connector broke off?

If it was the rear one, you'd better check the clearance to the dampener strut. If too close, you have a motor mount or SFB mount failure.
