I bought a new master switch and a new motor for the passenger side. When I hook a meter up to the connector one direction I get 12.4 volts, the other direction I get -12.4 volts. When the motor is hooked up it turns and I get -12.4 volts but the other direction I get nothing. When the motor is hooked to the battery it works great and reversing the leads reverses the motor. I'm like stumped. Any ideas? Should I be getting + and - 12.4 volts at the connector? Not sure why when the motor is hooked up I do not get a reading.

Update: The up works on the passenger front works. The down doesn't. The drivers side window control does nothing when the motor is plugged in. With a volt meter hooked up and the motor unplugged I get +12 volts up and -12volts down using both drivers side master control and passenger side. I'm stumped and do have all the factory manuals. Is the plus and minus voltage trying to tell me something? New switch's and motor also.

Grounds maybe causing the +12 and -12 volts?

Passenger side switch thanks to the SHO Forum members once again. Passenger side caused no power on the Left/master switch side to the Right front window.

They all work but the Left Rear Passenger side up now. I can raise it with the Master side. Guess we all know now what the problem is.

I disassembled the Right switch and sprayed contact cleaner on it and it is like new. Thanks everyone for the postings from years ago.

I did replace the master switch but after taking apart the right I'm sure that cleaner would of worked. $160.00 mistake but I did get some new parts. The switch's have 2 contacts on both ends of the switch for a total of 4. Really easy and just takes minutes to do.

I've cleaned up the master switch in my old '90 before. I didn't know that a switch in another door affected operating the windows from the master.

the land of the setting s
take the switch out, then there is a metal tang between the two metal plates that is not normally connected but you can bend it so it makes contact and it should work.
