Pass. Side Axle Popped Out!!

so im driving up I-80/90 when suddenly i loose power and my speedo is up at 130mph. pull over to the side of the road and tranny fluid is spilling out. when the tow truck came i saw that the passenger side axle popped out. looks like the carrier bearing fell out of the retainer, do you know what holds the bearing into the bracket? i think its some bolts, if so what size/thread pitch are they? and do you think the splines inside the diff and on the axle are screwed up? because there was a **** of alot of grinding noise goin on. thanks guys

The only time I've seen the axle come out of an AX4S was because of some severely worn motor mounts. I'd get that taken care of before you replace the axle. Additionally, check the splines on the axle to see if they got shredded off or not. If it looks like they did, then the damage to the diff is pretty much similar. If not, then there might not be much damage, if any at all.

If this happened on an MTX, then at the very least, you've lost or broken your intemediate shaft. I've never seen or heard of this ever happening on a SHO or any other car with a similar setup.

its a mtx, and the bearing like slid out of the bracket that holds it.

Sounds like you need to find another intermediate shaft. They are discounted IIRC. You still may find a new one though, or you could try and find a used one.

Its hard to say, just get under there and take a look at them.
