What is the best parts cleaner for keeping the intake and surge tank clean? Where in the engine/ engine bay do you NOT want cleaner to get into? Thanks!---Alaric

honestly, the best thing I've found for cleaning the intake is... foaming engine or tire cleaner. Foam it on the intake and valve covers, wait five minutes, then hose off with a light amount of LOW PRESSURE water. like your thumb over a garden hose sort of deal. It really works well. It will get dried oil stains off like a champ.

The tire cleaner works great, BUT do not hose off the motor with water. Just spray it on very heavily and then after it's done dripping off wipe the parts down with a rag. I use this on the entire engine compartment.

Over time the tire foam coating will collect dirt and develop opaqueness so you have to repeat the treatment.
