Hey guys, so my car gets broken into 3 weeks back, and I order a new front passenger window. Window shows, I go in, and the guy kicks me out because he doesn't have some tool to remove the rivets in the bumpers that connect the glass to the elevator/regulator/whatever.
So I had to cut the bastards out with a dremel, which got aluminum and steel fragments all over the grease stuck to the regulator parts. So I had to cut the rivets holding the regulator onto the door and yank it to clean all the contaminated grease off.
Long story short - it sucked a little. However, I don't want to talk about that. When I was initially removing the window trim to begin vacuuming glass, a felt bumper fell off of the outer squeegee part - obviously intended to keep the glass from head-butting the outer door panel.

You can see the inside bumper through the brand ******* new glass. The outside bumper lines up opposite it.
The bumper was held onto the squeegee by 2 rivets. They are very small, I haven't measured them yet - probably smaller than 1/8".

Somehow I lost the passenger side bumper, so I had to tear into the driver side door to get some specs - only to discover the driver side bumper had fallen off too... I found it and removed it from the bottom of the door, and this is where the trouble started, as well as the purpose of this post..
I can't figure out what the outside layer of this bumper is made out of. It appears to be very rusted metal, but I'm damn near convinced it's leather...

The inner-facing layer is clearly felt, but the other side... I'm not sure at all. I hit it with a nylon brush on a dremel, which didn't do much, so I hit one half with WD40 and have been letting it soak in for about an hour. Hopefully that will decide the leather theory.
But hey, if anyone has dealt with these parts before, I'd like to know what they are made out of. They're small, and not complex, so I should be able to make one. Two I guess.
Thanks in advance.
p.s. here's some summer-**** from Alaska!
