This may sound stupid to some but I truly don't know.

When you engage the parking break on an ATX, does this apply the breaks to all 4 wheels, the 2 front, or the 2 rear wheels. I honestly have no idea.

Oh, one more thing. What about the parking break on say most RWD cars. To me it seems as thought the parking break would engage the wheels opposite the drive wheels shrug but I dunno.

half-way there, I think.
AutoSHO:
Every car I have experience with has had a parking brake on the rear wheels only.
Unless you break your parking brake, then it doesn't brake anything :D

Take a brake, or is it break?

A little reading is in order. You should have a basic knowledge of the systems of an automobile if you are going to drive one!

Don't feel bad, a famouse person recently called the police because she could not get into her car. The automatic (electronic) unlocking device would not work. She was holding the keys! HELLO!

I think that I'm pretty competent when it comes to car in general, but I'd never really thought about the parking brake before.

In regards to the person with the mental problem of not realizing that her keys could be used to open a door, I'm not that dumb. I might be a 17 year old kid and a senior in high school, but I know more about cars than most my age.

95 indiblue sho,

The little story, which is true, was not intended to make fun of you or infer you were dumb. If you felt that was what I was trying to do I am very sorry, and I apologize.

We are all learning here. that is what the forum is about. There is no such thing as a dumb question, we are all ignorant about something.

To make it even more confusing,,some older vehicles, light/medium trucks in particular, had a brake setup on the driveshaft.
