I finally got a close look at the SHO at the Montreal Auto Show. I couldn't help but notice that it uses the foot operated parking brake system. Does anyone prefer this location?
I looked around the show and found the Lincoln section. I was drawn to the MKZ display. There was my parking brake, right where I like it, on / in the console, and hand operated.
Does anyone feel strongly about the location of the parking brake apparatus?

I'm not sure anyone prefers the foot-operated, they just do it for space restraints. I personally hate it, I would much rather have a hand-brake.

Personally, since it doesn't use a hand release, I like the idea of it being a foot pedal. Doesn't take up any space on the console. Since it is an automatic tranny, I only use it when I park on somewhat of an incline anyways. I should get in the habit of using it more often so that it doesn't freeze up. Especially now in the winter with all the crap on the roads.

Now that you mention it I have had a couple of occasions where my pant cuff has gotten caught on the parking brake pedal as I was just entering the car. I'm not concerned once I'm seated but still they could have moved it down a little more or even used a push button type if they were trying to clear space in the center console. They did a great job, the center console is spacious well laid out and I have found it very useful. If it were a stick then you gotta have it up there but in an automatic I don't think it really matters.
