Painting mirrors

I am thinking about painting my mirrors to match the outside of the car and was wondering if I could get some ideas from people who have done this. Such as what type of prep work was done and how long has it lasted? I am not sure if I am going to need to primer them or not. Also I how hard would it be to remove them to try and paint them? Thanks all.

Well to save money, and time, most of us just go with some SLO mirrors. They look more arodynamic(spelling?) and are can be had in the same color as your car. So jsut drop by a Junk Yard and snatch some up.

If you want an OE paint job go with the SLO mirrors...but you will pay 50-80 dollars for both as I have found out.

I just took mine off and painted them. Turned out pretty nice for an amateur.

I was kinda thinkin of getting my mirrors and door handles painted black. It is 93 bright red sho and the door handles are like a faded black color and the mirrors are kina bluish black. I want them both to be black. Have any of you guys done this or have any advice? thanks

I don't know about the mirrors, but if you get some Back to Black at an auto parts store, it brings back the door handles to their original look. BTW, you used to be able to get mirror bras for the SHO. Maybe an option.
