Hey guys, my 92 3.2 MTX (ya I know) is overheating, I think... First let me start of by saying I live in Sacramento, CA and it was 110 here today, but this has been going on since I started driving her a week ago (trans threw the diffpin) anyway, it says it runs hot in 80 degree nights too, and when I say hot, I mean at the n to the top line before he red.. Well also my needle may be a little screwed too b/c when it's cold the needle sits on the bottom line, after the blue, now my fan does cycle on and of when im driving, but I figure in at least 1/8" for the guage bieng off. Now when it's hot the fan doesw come on and off. Thats the wierd thing, the needle will go up, then down to halfway for no aqpparant reason, it was just as hot in the place I was at as where I would be when it drops, is this a sticky t-stat, or something else, it hasplenty of pickup when it says its runnin hot too, which makes me think it's not really runnin hot. It has a new radiator and temp switch and good antifreese, and it's not boiling or spewing out either.
Thanks

I'm not very experienced- yet- with these cars, but with similar symptoms, I borrowed one of those point temp guages and found my in dash guage was screwed up. They're not that hard to come by, and once you establish an operating baseline, the rest was easy. Good Luck

i have the same problem on one of my sho's and its the 92 and it seams that there it a manufacture defect that causes the heat sencer (on drivers side will have one wire coming off its in the block kinda hard to see) or the gaudge to go bad or both the way to check this is to pull the wire off and ground it out with car on but not running have a buddy sit in side and tell u if your tim "goes up" if it does un ground it it should go cold if it does then your gaudge is good and more than likely its your sencer and a new one is only 20 bucks or so
hope this helps people
