I have a 92 MTX SHO that runs excellent for the most part. If driving, the vehicle stays around 180-190 on my autometer gauges. The problem starts when the vehicle is sitting or stuck in traffic. The temp gauge creeps up and seems to take a while to cool off or will get over 230 if not moving. Has new water pump, hoses, thermostat, radiator and new coolant. I was thinking CCRM or fans, but both seem to be working.....any ideas?

Have you checked your coolant level?

It's also a good idea to keep up with the radiator and have the fins cleaned out occasionally.

Has a new radiator and coolant is full/new. Overflow is about halfway. I am pretty sure fans are coming on, A/C still works great. If fans were not working, wouldn't a/c be freaking out?

Mine was running a bit hot too, turned out one of the hose clamps on the intake was loose and resulted in lean running condition; tightened up and all good. Also, if you are running an underdrive pulley on the water pump, it will heat up a little more when stopped.

You need to make sure that the fans are coming on first.
I also recomend getting an infared temp gun to check the coolant temp.

Try with AC on vs. off and see if there is any difference in behavior.

I'm sorry about that, I read that in your original post. I meant to mention your a/c condensor, as well. The condensor sits in front of the radiator, if it is clogged, it will effect the performance of the radiator cooling.

Also, what is the water/coolant level? If you have 100% coolant, it's time to drain some of that and put some water in there. When a system is strictly coolant, it will take longer to cool the fluid than water. The only reason coolant is used to to keep the water from boiling over, and to protect the coolant system from rust. In this Texas heat, I use more water concentration than coolant [75% water to 25% coolant].
