I'll turn the car on and the low coolant light will be on this happens once every two weeks maybe less, theres no leaks under the car and the tank isnt leaking either but the top is a little damaged, small hole from where the braket used to hold the tank before it broke and i cant really close the cap properly i have to kinda twist it half way push down with my hand and hope it doesnt come loose lol,(anthing to do with the lose of coolant ?).When i open the rad. cap its never low, its always topped off, there also no smoke. What gives ? .....ideas?

check your hoses. you could have a loose clamp. also just because you have no leaks under the car doesn't mean you don't have a leak. when your rad gets hot it'll expand and a very small leak can occur but when the car cools the leak goes away. i had the problem with my old sable.

The SHO low coolant sensor is notorious. If the problem is just the sensor, you can unplug it at the cap and forget about it.

If the sensor elements at the end of the coolant sensor are above the level of the coolant in the "expansion bottle," the LOW COOLANT light should be illuminated. If you are continually adding coolant, you need to locate the exit path. If the LOW COOLANT light is on even when there is fluid on the sensor, you can likely just clean the metal portion of the tabs down to the bare surface to allow the current to pass and keep the light off.

For a leak path, check the bottom surfaces of the water pump and the lower timing belt cover. Also check a previous topic of mine here on a leak in the coolant crossover tube. That leak rarely touched the ground.
