Overdrive gone

Does anyone remember a thread about a broken or loose wire that fixed a problem with overdrive not working. It was something about having to move a boot or something and fixing a wire, i just cant remember if it was for overdrive or not.

I lost overdrive yesterday for no apparent reason.
It just quit. The light still turns on and off when you push the button but overdrive is still out.

I read the thread about the broken clip I'll check that one later, but i thought i read something awhile ago about a broken wire.

So if anyone has seen that thread before, let me know i would appreciate it.

Thanks for the feedback Steve,But i have already read the one about the broken clip in the overdrive servo. I waslooking for a thread that delt with a broken wire that cause the overdrive to not work. I dont know if it is out there but i could have sworn that i read it before..

I pulled off the cover plate for the overdrive servo and found the broken clip on the piston, put a new clip on and now i have overdrive again. Had a nasty vibration to and that is gone now.
I wonder if the piston flopping around was causing
the vibration.
Also just last week i fixed another problem with the transmission.The shifting from 1-2 would slam
when changing gears. coastdowns were harsh in fact
all shifting sucked. But it would come and go sometimes it was fine other times it was not.
found out that my PCM was freaking out which
caused all the bad shifting. Put in a new PCM
and it's like a new car.
It's been troubling me for a year now, just glad it's fixed.
So if anyone has a trans problem it might be the
the PCM, you never know....
