Quick question for you all, I've got an 89 Taurus SHO and the Door Ajar light has recently become permanently on. My doors are all closed, so either one of those switches has gone bad, or the Door Ajar light has some other meaning.

I was wondering if the light did have a second meaning, and what that meaning might be, any help would be greatly appreciated.

You've probably just got a bum switch. It could've screwed up due to corrosion, or just finally wore out.

What do you expect for a 13 year old car? thumbs_u

Good luck!

Theres a switch attached to the latch mechanism (inside the door) that controls the door ajar light. The post switch between the hinges only controls the interior lights and chime.

If the WD-40 trick doesn't work, the easiest thing to do is disconnect the offending switch. Each door has its own switch, but I'd bet 99% of the time it's the drivers side door. The wire going to the switch is black & orange.
