Good evening to you all. I was hoping this wouldn't be my first post, but I need some insight or some advice. I picked up my new to me SHO about a month ago, slapped a 3 bar MAP sensor, K&N Drop-in, and a tune on her and off I went.
I've been attempting to pull a high 12 run at the strip for the past two weeks. 3 trips to New England Dragway have left me both disappointed and confused as to where to go from here.
Last Wednesday and Friday were the first two times I've been to the strip with the SHO. After my first pass and got my slip I was blown away with the paltry 102 trap speed. Kept smashing down the track only to find that 102/103 13.4-13.6 is where I was stuck.
Reached out to my tuner, Torrie, he has me take a log and send it over. He finds that my KR is excessively high. (+3 even 4 at some points)Recommends me to swap my plugs and make sure they are gapped correctly. I leave, buy a set of Motorcraft SP-534s ensure they are gapped to .030, and make my way back to the strip Friday. Only to find the same results.
Reached out again, was instructed to check the knock sensor wire by the airbox for chaeffing( no wire showing but is now wrapped in several layers if tape for further protection), and the gas I was using was also brought into question. Also my charge temps weren't the ideal either. It was humid and hot.
I've used the local Shell for my 423 WHP Focus ST for several years prior to my SHO so it kinda threw me off but needed to try to solve this. So, I burn through the whole tank, fill it with 93 from the Mobil station local to me(Also a gas stop I used with my high power focus), and head to the strip again tonight. 55* ambient temps, fresh plugs, fresh tank of 93, mint charge temps, and boom, 13.304.. at 104. Came home to look at the log and once again I'm back hitting +3 KR towards the end of third gear.
I'm just at a loss as to what to do from here. What I should replace, or even look for..
I have a few logs if anyone else can decipher them just unsure how to post them here.
